In conclusion be strong—not in yourselves but in the Lord, in the power of his boundless resource. Put on God’s complete armour so that you can successfully resist all the devil’s methods of attack. For our fight is not against any physical enemy: it is against organisations and powers that are spiritual. We are up against the unseen power that controls this dark world, and spiritual agents from the very headquarters of evil. - Ephesians 6:10-12 (PHILLIPS)
The Good Stuff:
Fervent: A Woman's Battle Plan for Serious, Specific, and Strategic Prayer by Priscilla Shirer
The What:
Book
Hot Take:
Fervent doesn’t just encourage, it brings the fire and the fight. In a time when “strategy” is an overused, undervalued, and indeterminate word, Priscilla Shirer gives it the specificity, force and dynamism it deserves, and all in relation to prayer.
This book is small but mighty: encyclopedic in nature. I reference it time and again to help me name the issue I face and pray in line with the Word.
This book revolutionized my prayer and waking life. I now think even more critically about the issues I and the world face, particularly in terms of the strategies the enemy lines up against us and the antidotes for that toxicity, which her insight and prayer points deliver.
Let this blow your mind and level up your prayer life. You deserve a powerful life, and the enemy deserves what comes as a result.
My Takeaway:
Without a strategy, we are without a plan and without a focus, and that leaves us vulnerable. But the Scripture gives us tools and the Spirit gives us discernment and power, so we can relentlessly, strategically "defend yourself...push into enemy territory and take...stuff...back" through Almighty God!
Fave Quote:
“Prayer is a reminder to yourself, as well as a declaration to the enemy, that you know he’s there. That you’re on to him. When you bring your concerns and fears and irritations to the Lord in prayer, you’re aligning your weakling spirit with the full force of God’s Holy Spirit. Instead of continuing to fail by taking the battle into your own hands—and taking the battle to the wrong people—you’re joining instead with all the power of heaven to take your fight directly to the source of the problem.” – p. 44
