My pick of the Month - April 2022

Here is a last piece of advice. If you believe in goodness and if you value the approval of God, fix your minds on the things which are holy and right and pure and beautiful and good. Model your conduct on what you have learned from me, on what I have told you and shown you, and you will find the God of peace will be with you. - Philippians 4:8 (PHILLIPS)
The Good Stuff:
All That’s Good: Recovering the Lost Art of Discernment by Hannah Anderson
The What:
Book
Hot Take:
All That’s Good is about coming to an understanding of wisdom and discernment from the perspective of God’s goodness and His desire for us to not just see it or be it but experience it.
Prayer is so much about discerning the will and voice of God, knowing the promptings of the Spirit, and responding to Him and the world around us in a way that is good, pleasing and reflective of Him.
This book completely changed the way I think about God’s expectations of me, and how to make the best decisions grounded in truth of who God is and who He made me to be. It rocked my world by helping me think, see, live, pray, and believe from the perspective of and position of goodness—in the richest and fullest meaning of that word.
Don’t be deceived: this book is meaty and though she speaks with gentleness, she is direct and clear as she unfailingly calls a thing a thing!
My Takeaway:
She summed it up best when she said, “discernment is knowing the difference between what is good and what is better.” – p. 166
Fave Quote:
“The goal of Scripture is to teach us the best way to play the game.” – p. 100
